Don’t be afraid to experiment.
Email marketing is likely the world’s most economical form of marketing. But like any form of marketing, you have to experiment until you get it right.
I have researched what works best with email marketing and try to follow the best industry practices when sending out my marketing tip every two weeks. However, this week, I received an email from Guerilla Marketing guru Jay Levinson on how to get the most out of your email marketing. I thought I would share this with you to see if it really works. The following is an excerpt from his email:
The Best Day of the Week to Send Email
Emails sent on a Friday results in at least 23% more sales than emails that are sent out on any other day; Friday emails out-pull the worst day (Wednesday!) by 89%. Emails sent out on a Tuesday get the worst percentage of clicks (or views). Wednesday emails get the worst sales. Thursday is the best day to send emails to get raw clicks.
You could earn 89% more money on a direct-response offer by simply changing when you send your emails. Imagine the cumulative earnings you will generate by applying this information to your online business. Combine this with the fact that many still believe the myth that Wednesday is the best day of the week to send email, and this information alone will give you a tremendous competitive edge.
For the last few years I have been sending my marketing tips on a Tuesday. My “open” percentage usually hovers around 23%. Well, like I said in my opening paragraph, you have to experiment until you get it right. So here it is Friday, and I’ve sent my email. I will keep you posted on my results.
