With so many ways to market to potential customers these days, some companies are not utilizing one of the most powerful weapons in their arsenal – email. If you are reading this email, then you have opened it and must think there is something of value (I hope there is) so it works! If you are using – or thinking about using – email as a marketing tool, here are some do’s and don’ts to consider:
DO…
- Get permission from the recipient
- Create an email with a call to action
- Optimize your email for use on a mobile device
- Personalize your subject line
- Keep your tone conversational
DON’T…
- Stuff your copy with too many links. Multiple links become unclickable on a mobile device
- Design your email with one large image. They don’t always load, and you have an empty page
- Overlook your pre-header text. It is a valuable piece of real estate
- Send too many emails. People won’t read them after a while
- Copy everyone (bcc is preferred method)
Email marketing is powerful. Make sure you’re ready to make the most of every email you send just by making these few simple adjustments.
