Now that summer is over, things are hopping around town again. Summer ended with a bang with the Everest Curling Challenge, and there are a lot of great events coming up including the Canadian Chamber of Commerce National Conference being hosted by the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce.
I attended three events in the past week, all very well done and all very successful. The first event was a comedy show hosted by Investors Group for their existing customers. Yes, it was a private event and most of the people in the auditorium were already clients. However, considering that 80% of a company’s business comes from existing customers, it’s a smart thing to do. And they were very light on the Investors Group promotion, which everyone appreciated.
The second event was Feast in the Field, which is a major fundraiser for Ability New Brunswick, of which we are a sponsor. At this event, food and beverage vendors give out samples of their products to the attendees. I really don’t know why every restaurant and beverage company in the city isn’t there. Especially new restaurants. It is a perfect opportunity for potential customers to sample their products. Why wouldn’t they want that? It is a very tasty time and Ability NB promotes the vendors very well through social media.
The third event was the launch of Porter Airlines at the Fredericton Airport. It was very well organized and a great opportunity for the business community to learn more about the Fredericton area’s newest business. Once the politicians completed their obligatory greetings, etc., the president of Porter spoke and gave the pitch to the business audience. It was well done and I think everyone in attendance will consider them when booking their next trip.
These three events all had marketing goals in mind when they were planned. And all three events met their goals. When organizing an event, make sure you have clear goals in mind and everything you do focuses on attaining those goals.
