Exercise Diversity – and Patience – in Your Marketing

So Many Marketing Options

While preparing for a presentation to a provincial association on the topic “Taking Aim at your Target Market”, I created a list of marketing initiatives that we have recommended to clients. I was really surprised to see the list top 60 recommendations.

How many ways do you currently market your business? Don’t confuse this with advertising. Advertising is just one marketing method to promote your business. Take a look at what you are doing and make your own list.

Think about everything you do. For example, I use this email as a method to market Kiers Marketing Group. A Chamber of Commerce membership is a marketing initiative, heck, even your business card can be a powerful marketing tool.

Be broad in your thinking – your geographic location, customer thank you cards, YouTube, referral programs, trade shows, sponsorships, your company sign and even customer-friendly company policies are great ways to market your business.

But not all methods work for every business. This is where it can get confusing to a business owner. The best way to determine if a marketing tool is going to work for you is through trial and error. Every business is different and what works for one might not work for another.

Be smart, be patient, and see what works best for your business. Once you find the right mix of marketing methods, you are well on your way. But don’t stop there, always be on the lookout for new ways and try to stay ahead of your competitors.
