As you have probably noticed, more and more businesses are turning their company vehicles into mobile billboards. Think about it, if your vehicle is on the road every day, how many people are going to see it?
Industry analysts have researched the effectiveness of mobile billboards and have determined that they are now more effective than traditional outdoor advertising. Here are some things to keep in mind if you are thinking of vehicle wraps or graphics.
The most important thing to remember is to keep it simple. I see some vehicles on New Brunswick roads that I really have to look hard at to see who the company is. The design is so complicated that the real purpose of the wrap is lost.
Make sure that whoever is printing and installing the graphics knows what they are doing. I have seen some real hack jobs on vehicles with wrong colours and misaligned graphics.
As with any marketing, the design has to be reflective of the business you are in. If you are a media outlet, toy store or fast food restaurant, add lots of colour and make it fun. But, if you are a professional firm offering accounting, insurance or legal services, tone it down, you want your vehicle to reflect your company’s professionalism.
Vehicle graphics are a great way to promote your company, they carry your message all over town. When you are not driving it, don’t park it in the back of your parking lot, park it by the street so people can see it. But remember, most people who see your vehicle are seeing it go by at 50km/h or more, so you only have a few seconds for your message to get through. Keep it simple, so all of the time and money you put into your vehicle will be worth it.
To get the best bang for your buck, get your marketing agency to work with you on the design and not the sign shop. It will be well worth it in the end.
