Actually, there is no such marketing term as “brand explosion”. But if there was, we witnessed it during the last few months.
On July 2, I sat in a half empty Rogers Centre and watched the Boston Red Sox score eight runs in the first inning against the Blue Jays. I wondered what happened to all the optimism everyone had coming out of spring training.
Who would have thought that in just a few weeks after that, everything would change. A brand mired in mediocrity would take off to become such a powerhouse in just three short months. Winning changed everything and a blue wave raced across the country.
Jays gear, tickets, TV ratings – all went through the roof. Why? Because management decided to make some bold changes. It worked. It was time for them to make a change.
Is it time to make a change in your company to help grow your brand? Think about this, how can you get new fans to jump on your bandwagon? Take a look at what your customers want, and give it to them. And don’t be afraid to use bold, outside the box thinking.
The Blue Jays realized it was time to win and they did something about it. I don’t think they had any idea how their brand was going to explode like it did.
