During this time of the year, there are so many fundraising golf scrambles that it’s hard to keep them all straight. What group is raising funds for what cause this week?
Golf scrambles are actually pretty good marketing opportunities – if your target market is golfing in the event that is. I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Fredericton Chamber of Commerce scramble yesterday. If you are business to business, this is a really great opportunity for you.
Every foursome could be potential customers so make sure you are prepared to make the most of your sponsorship. For instance, if you are in the hospitality industry, make sure you have drink or food samples. If you have something new and innovative, take it along and show it off. Whatever you do, make sure it is memorable. At yesterday’s event, I think the Hilton Garden Inn, Elliot McCrea Hill and Holiday Inn Express did the best job of capitalizing on the opportunity and they were memorable to the golfers.
It is also great because you get to network with these business people in a non-business setting. Don’t just be sponsor for the sake of being involved. Be a sponsor because it is a good opportunity for your business. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my teammates from the Chalmers Foundation. We had a great day of golf. Oh, and networking too.
