This year is no different than any other year, with so many fund raising golf scrambles it’s hard to keep them all straight. What group is raising funds for what cause this week?
Golf scrambles are actually pretty good marketing opportunities – if your target market is golfing in the event that is. I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Fredericton Chamber of Commerce scramble again this year. If you are business to business, this is a really great opportunity for you.
One of the members of my group asked what the best bang for your marketing buck at an event like this is. My response – playing or being a hole sponsor. Actually, doing both would be ideal but if you had to pick one over the other, it would be a hole sponsor. So, we looked at every hole sponsor to see if they were getting the most out of their marketing opportunity.
Of all the samples, games and give-a-ways (which are all fun of course), only two hole sponsors actually gave us a business pitch. Hats off to Radisson Kingswood and Colpitts Developments for trying to maximize their opportunity.
Don’t be a sponsor just for the sake of giving a donation to the cause. Be a sponsor because it is a good opportunity for your business. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my teammates from the Chalmers Foundation. We had a great day of golf. Oh, and networking too.
