Taking your own photos?
Cell phones can take good photos and the quality is getting better and better. The quality is okay for web and social media use, but for marketing purposes, your photography shouldn’t just be good, it needs to be GREAT. Hire a professional photographer with a real camera and get serious about your marketing.
Writing your own script?
If you insist on writing your own script for your social media video or TV ad, here is a quick rule of thumb. Because the video ads are often captioned, when you write your script, make sure it is two or three seconds shorter than the run time of the ad. Doing this, the reader is not forced to hurry through reading it, and also allows the listener the time to absorb the message rather than it be rushed. Your message will be a lot more effective.
Shooting your own video?
This is another thing you should really hire a professional for. Sure, a ten to twenty second social media clip is probably okay to do on your own but anything more involved, you should get help from a professional. The worst thing you can do with marketing is look amateurish and a poorly shot video can do just that. Take advantage of the new high-definition equipment and drone technology that a professional videographer offers. It is worth it.
Designing your own website?
Don’t, just don’t.
