Don’t be a radio star.
I listen to a lot of local radio, it’s always on at home and in the car. Being a fan of many styles of music, I listen to most of the local stations. One thing that is common to all stations, and it drives me crazy, are the ads for cars. Why do local car dealers think they have to voice their own ads? Actually, most of them read their own ads, it sounds like they are reading a script. I’m not sure why this business group does this, radio stations employ great voices that do voice overs for a living and do a better job getting the message across.
Keep in touch with your customers.
Speaking of local car dealers, the folks at Fredericton Volkswagen do a great job keeping me informed about what is going on in their dealership and with my car. After I bought my car, they followed up with a thank you email and a phone call. After I get it serviced, they follow up with an email and a phone call. Same thing when they have a big sale going on or special deals in their service department. Good job guys, it keeps customers coming back.
Keep your URL simple.
We develop a lot of websites and of course all new websites need a URL or domain name. Don’t get campy when picking your URL. If you can get your company name as your domain name, get it. Using your company name helps build your brand recognition and is easy to remember. Keep it short as possible. Our name is Kiers Marketing Group but our URL is www.kiers.com. Simple and easy to remember, more people will find you that way.
