It looks like business in New Brunswick might start to open up sooner than most people thought when the State of Emergency first went into effect in late March. One thing you must realize is, it won’t be business as usual – it will be more like business as unusual.
Things will not be the same. One big question you have to ask yourself is “how did the Covid-19 experience affect my customers?” Here are a few things your customers will want to know when you start pushing your message out again.
- What is your status? Are you open, closed, reduced hours, etc.
- What changes have you made? Are you continuing with physical distancing, do you have a new cleaning regimen, is your place of business safe.
- Do you have new solutions? Do you have new prices, products, services or safe delivery options.
It is important to let customers know that your business is safe. It wasn’t as important two months ago, but it sure is now. You have to build up their trust, so they know that you genuinely care about them.
Like it or not, your customers have changed since the last time they walked into your business. So be empathetic and keep your messaging simple. Be kind, nobody wants to hear a hard sell right now.
Your customer is your #1 asset, so tell them what they want to hear, give them what they want and work hard to build their trust in your business.
So are you ready for when things do open up? You better get prepared now. Get your business in shape now, make sure your protective processes are in place. Get your messaging started now. Do the small things, like getting your signage now, so you will be ready when it’s time to reopen. Many of you are going to be really, really busy.
