Here are some marketing observations over the last few weeks. I call them…The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
The Good
I recently visited the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in the Regent Mall. Every time I walk by that store, the smell makes my mouth water. I went in, and to my surprise, found out they offer free samples to everyone who visits their store. What a great marketing tool, and a tasty one too. Good job.
The Bad
Last week I visited Toronto. I marvel at all the media outlets and how they all survive. There are 51 radio stations broadcasting in the Greater Toronto Area. How do they get enough ad revenue to stay on the air? The bigger question, which radio stations does a business choose to advertise on? Some of our clients complain there are too many radio options in Fredericton. Yikes!
I also noticed that the use of newspaper boxes is still very popular there. At one bus stop I counted boxes for 12 different publications. Some printer, somewhere, is very busy.
The Ugly
I was attempting to get on the ramp of the Westmorland Street Bridge a few weeks ago and a truck coming off the bridge obviously didn’t understand the concept of “merge”. Once I realized he wasn’t going to let me on the ramp, I slowed and let him go. I was then the recipient of the famous one fingered salute. The ugly part – his truck was covered with his company logo, phone number and a statement of the great service they give.
I salute you back and will never send any business your way. Some people just don’t get it.
