Because a lot of series finales are two-parters, this one will be as well.
Two weeks ago, I shared nine different things I learned over the years, which was how to treat customers and be successful in sales.
For my last tip, I have one bit of advice for you. It is something my father told me in 1978 and it is still true today.
In 1978 I came to Fredericton looking for a job. My profession at the time, if you can believe it, was a plumber. I looked and looked and couldn’t find a job in that field. So I started looking for something else to tide me over until I found a plumbing job. I ended up getting three job offers in one day, so I called my wise old father and asked him what I should do. He said, “don’t worry about the money, take the job you think you will enjoy the most”. So I took an entry-level job at The Daily Gleaner and was there almost 20 years. Dad was right. I found something that I enjoyed and I ran with it, because if you have to work at something day in and day out, you better enjoy it.
I have only ever worked for two businesses in forty-five years and I enjoyed working at both. Whatever I end up doing in the next chapter of my life, it will definitely be something I enjoy doing. My dad is long gone so you better take heed, it seems that I have grown into the role as the wise old man now.
Cheers everyone, it’s been fun.
