Kiers Marketing had a booth at the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Tri-City Business Connection trade show last week. This was a great forum for business-to-business interaction. We spoke to a lot of friends and customers, but we also spoke to many potential new customers. These are people we wouldn’t have met otherwise.
I walked around the room and looked at the good, the bad, and the ugly booth set ups and was really happy to see some of our clients doing things the right way (you know who you are). I watched the UFRED team across the aisle from me doing a great job coming out to meet people. I also watched some other booth holders avoiding eye contact when someone walked their way, or sitting behind their table, blocking access to their booth, and not being totally approachable.
If you want it to work, you have to make it work by getting out and being proactive with the attendees. Even if they are not a potential client, they may know someone who is. It doesn’t hurt to at least say hello.
You make the investment in money and in time. Your investment won’t pay unless you make it work. Relax, have some fun and get out there and get some new business.
