That was a question I was asked last week. Of course, I said yes.
Last week I had a random call, right out of the blue, from one of the many cold callers we frequently get. He introduced himself and said he was calling from a company called Lead Forensics. He asked how our company generates new leads. The words “sorry I’m not interested” were on the tip of my tongue, and then he said “what if I could give you a weekly report of the names of companies that are visiting your website”. Oh crap, he had me.
My scam radar went into active mode but I said “yes, of course I would like to know”. He explained that their program is much like Google Analytics, but it provides a whole lot more information, including the names of the companies that are visiting our site and what pages they are looking at. Sounded intriguing to me.
They called a few days later and gave us a live tutorial on how it works. They offered a one week free trial to see what we think. It’s pretty hard to say no to FREE. I said yes, at the very least, it would be good fodder for a marketing tip.
I am still skeptical about this, but it is not costing us anything so why not try it. I will report the findings in my next marketing tip.
