Are You Great at What You Do, or Just Good?

Essential Characteristics of Highly Successful Marketing Professionals

Are you responsible for marketing your company or organization? Discover the key traits that can help you become a great marketer. Read on to unlock the secrets of success in the dynamic world of marketing.

1. Patience – The Key to Effective Marketing

To be a marketing star, patience is essential. Learn why allowing your marketing efforts time to grow and evolve is crucial for long-term success. Discover effective strategies to cultivate patience and witness the positive impact it can have on your marketing campaigns. We may live in a world of 15 second videos, but the work still needs to be done and the work takes time.

2. Gaining Insight – Unlocking Customer Perspectives

Data is invaluable in marketing. Explore the importance of understanding your customer’s point of view (through research), anticipating your competitors’ moves (through research), and getting inside the mind of your prospects (through research).

There are multiple avenues to find free analytics such as Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Native Analytics (the data you get for free directly from the social media platform you are using) and MonsterInsights just to name a few. However, as with most things these days, if you want better data for better insights, you have to plan to pay for it. Please note that if you plan on using third-party tracking apps such as Hootsuite or Zoho Social for basic data and content publishing, you may want to reconsider as the data from native analytics is closer to the source and thus, more accurate. Third-party apps are extremely powerful, but tiered so that the truly powerful insights are behind a paywall.

Gaining practical tips on developing a customer-centric marketing approach that sets you apart from the competition is the reason why we pay for some of the extra data. Not everyone has the budget for this though, so come talk to us if you need help with analytics.

3. Strength – Navigating Conflicting Advice

In marketing, strength is required to stand up to well-meaning individuals who offer misguided advice. Learn how to navigate conflicting opinions from “experts”, co-workers, employees, family, and friends while staying true to your marketing vision. Discover strategies to maintain focus on your target audience and drive impactful campaigns, but always go back to YOUR data.

There are numerous bad actors out there who offer the world, but deliver nothing of value. Social Media Experts are a dime a dozen because many grew up with the platforms. However, in our experience, most are simply trying a side hustle at the thing they find fun. This is great for short-term wins, but will never be a long-term win as many don’t have the strategic skills to back up their creativity to achieve long-term growth with the audiences you want to reach.

4. Staying Trendy – Adapting to a Changing Marketing Landscape

To succeed in marketing, staying abreast of evolving trends is essential. Explore the rapidly changing marketing landscape and understand the strategic positioning required to remain relevant. Discover tactics to identify and leverage emerging marketing options that can elevate your brand.

Here at Kiers Marketing, our Digital Media Manager, Andrew, has signed up for 2 weekly email lists; Social Media Examiner and Neil Patel Digital. He checks them every week, because yes, digital media platforms change weekly and then meets with the team to discuss any relevant updates. The big one now is GA4, but who knows what innovations and changes will come with the current AI boom in 2023.

5. Energize Your Marketing Efforts

Marketing demands energy and attention to ensure continuous improvement. You may tink to yourself, “I can create great content for Instagram. That’s easy.” But, have you asked yourself if you can create a post every day for the rest of your business’ life? As soon as you stop posting to social media, the next time you do, the algorithms have to learn everything again, losing the momentum you took the last month to post every day.

Learn how to adjust your expectations based on your resources, maintain focus, track progress, and optimize your marketing efforts regularly. Unleash your high-energy potential to drive impactful campaigns that captivate your target audience.

Conclusion

In challenging times, diligence, research and awareness are crucial for marketing success. Embrace these five steps to elevate your marketing game. With the right traits, strategies, and unwavering dedication, your journey to becoming a great marketer will be smoother and more rewarding than ever.
